Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information PaperPilot AI ("we", "us") collects when you use paperpilotai.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect the minimum we need to run a guided writing assistant, and you can delete your account — and everything in it — at any time.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. Your name, email address, and sign-in method, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. We never see or store your password.
  • Payment information. Purchases are processed by Stripe. We store your subscription status and transaction references — never your card number.
  • Content you upload. Assignment files (syllabus, brief, rubric, notes, writing samples), the text extracted from them, and the outlines and drafts you create. These are stored in our database and file storage, hosted on Supabase.
  • Usage analytics. Product events (e.g. which features you use) via PostHog, used to improve the product.
  • Error diagnostics. Crash and error reports via Sentry. Reports are scrubbed of personal information — emails, names, and your writing never appear in error logs.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide the service: your uploaded materials are sent to our AI model provider solely to generate the outlines, drafts, and reviews you request.
  • To manage your subscription, credits, and billing.
  • To send transactional email (receipts, account notices) via Resend, respecting your notification preferences.
  • To understand product usage and fix bugs.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your papers to advertise to you.

3. Retention and deletion

  • Original uploaded files are kept for 30 days, then automatically deleted from storage. The extracted text remains in your account so your papers keep working.
  • Your papers, drafts, and settings are kept while your account is active.
  • One-click account deletion. From Settings you can delete your account at any time. This removes your account, papers, uploaded content, and stored files; we retain only records we are legally required to keep (e.g. billing records held by Stripe).

4. Service providers

We share data with the following processors, only as needed to run the service: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Supabase (database and file storage), our AI model provider (generation you request), Resend (transactional email), PostHog (analytics), Sentry (error tracking), and Vercel (hosting).

5. Your choices and rights

  • Access, update, or delete your account information from Settings.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, portability, correction, deletion) — contact us to exercise them.
